General Information of Requester CETC 44th is a key institute specialized in optoelectronic technology, doing research and development in the field of semiconductor light emitting device, semiconductor light detector, integrated optical device, CCD, infrared focal plane device, optoelectronic coupler, optical fiber transmission components and the camera and thermal infrared imager. CETC 44th offers products in the area of optical fiber information transmission, communication, Internet, sense, navigation, laser ranging, guide, fuse, automatic control, aerospace remote image sensing, precise measurement, computer graphic recognition, information storage, information processing and low-light and infrared night vision devices. 2. International Cooperation Status CETC 44th has established friendly cooperation relationship with enterprises and universities of Russia, Singapore, UK, United States, Belgium etc. Experts from those enterprises pay regular visits to us institute to conduct technological exchanges, having improvedour technology of laser chip foroptical communication use to a remarkable level.  [Technical Requirements Summary] 1. Importance and necessity of requested project, and relations with key projects and industries of Chongqing City. DFB semiconductor laser for optical fiber communication use, the key device to signal transmission is required to function quickly at a high temperature without any refrigerationand could maintain a good stability and reliability for a long period of time. With optical fiber installed to the house, the market of DFB laser for optical communication use increases year by year and its market size has reached billions level. However, because of the complicated manufacturing process and high technological requirements, the DFB laser chip in the domestic optical communicationmarket has been monopolized by Japanese and American enterprises for a long time. Up to now, no company in China can mass produce this type of product, which is the bottleneck of domestic optical communication industry. Through international technological cooperation, absorbing advanced technology abroad and realizing the industrialization of domestic DFB laser chip will sharply increase the competitiveness of domestic optical communication industry and stimulate its upgrading. By completing this project, electronic information industry, the newly emerging high-tech industry in Chongqing will make Chongqing the leader of the optoelectronic advanced chip technology in China and help Chongqing rise to higher status in electronic information industry. 2. Technology breakthroughs and innovations of requested project Through international technological cooperation, we can master key technologies like DFB laser chip design, epitaxial growth of semiconductor quantum well material, production of sub-micron grating and cavity surface coating.  By technology breakthrough and equipment upgrading, the introduced technology can be localized. The project demanded will make breakthrough in the aspect of DFB laser chip design and sub-micron grating nanometer processing. The technology can reach international advanced level.
